As the creator of this thread, I invited PJV (and anyone else) to cross post any photos of pollinators to this thread.

I think it is important to make this thread grow

speaking of growth, I love it when we have different types of pollinators shown - insects: ants, bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, birds, bats, etc. etc. etc. and so forth and so on .

I would love to have these great photos to be used to educate folks about the necessary services these animals provide to all of us.

**** in fact, I just sent a link to a k - 8 principal that I know inviting him and his teachers to check out the thread. I told him that some photos may be copy righted but that if he contacted the photographer he might receive permission to use photos for educational purposes.

I know that I give such permission to any and all to use my photos for such purposes. ****

i like how part of the blossom actually looks like a "splash"

such liquid is often used by certain plants as traps to collect insects for "consumption"

Is that flower one of those?

All About the Pitcher Plant
Not this one Allen. The nectar on this flower must be particularly sweet, as flies and ants ( and bees of course !! ) are feasting regularly.

Thinking of spring, summer and fall on this cold January day.

I like this photo because you can clearly see how the insect is using its proboscis

I think how the right teacher could use the photos in this thread to get kids interested in insects and other pollinators as well as flowers and plants.

If you know of any who might be interested, spread the word

Please keep adding to the images, they are amazing

used my K 3 + Smc Pentax-DA L 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED WR + 1.4x converter at the Topeka Zoological Park to capture this image
