Uncropped K3ii with Super Tak 55mm and extension tube, lighting - 1 sun, full morning power.
I forgot how quick these little buggers are, Spring has only just sprung and they are only frantically hanging around the 1 plant that has flowers out the front

Even though we had a few hives of honey bees nearby, it's mainly been a variety of solitary bees who pollinated our cherries - with great success.

A honey bee on a thistle, laken this summer in France.

Optimizing for space on this trip, this was taken with a DA 55-300 PLM + marumi 330 (+3) Achromat on a KP, cropped to square format on the sides.
For another example, see HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE - Show us what it can do, what it CAN'T! - Page 27 - PentaxForums.com

Bee on Turks Cap

the sun is usually brutal but I got this shot in the evening when the sun was not as much of an issue.

These big syrphid flies are out in numbers here, too. The late-season asters are becoming more common in yards and open space, which is great.

Spring Andrena bees rely on the rose-family fruit trees, and do a great job pollinating. These plants have been around far longer than honeybees in North America.
