Post Your Portrait-Orientation Landscapes!

(This was inspired by NaHoruk's Post Your Telephoto Landscapes thread.)

Landscapes are, as the name would suggest, most commonly shot in landscape orientation. But what about landscapes shot in portrait orientation?

Whether to take advantage of a strong vertical element...

To take advantage of a particularly interesting foreground...

Because of the Rule of Thirds...

Or because your lens just wasn't wide enough otherwise...

...I think landscapes in portrait orientation are actually pretty great.

Have any examples of your own to share?

For the right landscape, sometimes a vertical shot is just the thing!

Good idea for a thread and some fantastic shots to start off with! I take a lot of verticals, especially if I want to emphasize the sky/clouds. A couple recent ones:

I had been away from the forum for a few weeks until the past day or so. I've been amazed at how improved some members are in just a few short weeks and some of the techniques and creativity used are breathtaking. Some wonderful images have been shared this year, and this thread is yet another example.

Nice! I like how the textures in the trees and clouds play off each other.
