Beach walks - scenes, shells, stranded creatures, flotsam and jetsam

There's an old Beach and Surf thread but I thought this might attract a bit of interest. We don't all have regular access to a beach but I think many of us have some interesting shots to share.

This was last week on Sanibel Island, Florida. A major thunderstorm blew in overnight. The next morning there was still a storm surge and several crab traps had been washed up.

A couple of mornings later the tide went out further, revealing a lot of shells, many still living or with hermit crabs. The shell collectors were out in force.

If there's enough interest I'll search back and see if I can revive some other beach shots from past years. Doesn't have to be ocean beaches - lakes and rivers are fine!

Nice thread! I have quite a few, from my visits to Port Elizabeth, my home town on the south eastern coast of South Africa. Here are a few

A shell in the patterned sand dune, formed by strong winds. Port Elizabeth is known as the "windy city".

And the letter K on the beach-who knows.

And a bean of the Coral tree-the closest tree I saw was miles away- who knows

A broken romance perhaps

3 stones

And somebody left their bottled water on the beach. Stupid!

Thanks Noel and Videopilot, that's a great start! - I still can't figure out what that hydrant is doing in the middle of a beach.

Here are a few from around the Haystack at Cannon Beach, Oregon.

The old cannon at Sapperhoek, Port Elizabeth.

And leading down from that cannon- a walkway to the rocky beach

This one is interesting- a Wheelchair for the disabled, with which they can go splashing in the waves. Provided by the Municipality, and a great service to the disabled.

Thanks for everyone's contributions. Here are some shots from England's south coast.

These "groynes" were built to control coastal erosion
