Post-Processing Challenge #209 - Tatahatso

Welcome to Post-Processing Challenge #209! Thanks for hosting last week Tas.

I hope you guys don't mind another landscape. This view is of a horseshoe bend of the Colorado River way below in Marble Canyon with the Kaibab Plateau visible in the distance. This location is on the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona and requires a backcountry permit from the Tribe and ~ 20 miles of off-roading to reach. This site gets far fewer visitors than The Horseshoe Bend near Page, AZ. The driving distance between these 2 bends of the river is over 80 miles. I was standing at this location when I shot the photo of the rainbow over Echo Cliffs used in PP Challenge #207.

K-5 IIs and Sigma 10-20 F3.5

Download the DNG or JPEG from here: My Files

I'll close the challenge sometime on Friday February 10th. Have fun!

edit: tried again for more saturated version.. not totally happy with it but times about up and might as well add it...

Two excellent natural colour submissions already means I thought it best to go in a different direction. All PP was completed in On1 Photo RAW.

Great photo! Here's my take (and pardon the halo at the foreground/background transition...):

Simply a wonderful image, what an amazing spot, and a great job capturing such detail and dynamic range.

A quick take from me. So many possibilities for handling this fabulous capture! I'll go for widescreen technicolour for a first stab.

Wow, what a spot! Here is my rather dull and dark take.

I know your take is not realistic but I love it. You have a wonderful imagination.

Thank you! I couldn't resist a bit of fun with the image, so much detail, colour depth and interest, one can take it in so many directions.

Sadly I wasn't there to see the real colours, but working back from my saturated version, here is one that I hope is closer to real life (as well as sticking to the original composition)

Here is my attempt, a bit warmer. Used RawTherapee for this one. I love just how much detail you can get from K-5IIs and a decent lens
