Monarch caterpillar. I was really glad to see a several of these on a bug-photo outing. And some tiny aphids as well.

No idea what this will look like after metamorphosis other than "butterfly or moth."

Hi Walt, in Queensland and New South Wales, the drought is biting very hard indeed. No end in sight either. Fingers crossed for 2019 !!!

We've been slightly warmer than normal. Areas south along the Atlantic coast have had exceptional amounts of rain. The southwest is once again drought-stricken with dangerously high temps week after week. Northwestern Europe has also had exceptional heat and dry. And that is not the end of extreme weather conditions this year. Let us hope it is not the "new normal."

Looks like the very colourful Pine Sawfly larva.
