Was playing around with 135mm lenses last night. The SMCT 135/3.5 is out - it's currently bubble wrapped and awaiting dispatch to Eric for some minor fixes. The Samigon 135/2.8 is out - image quality/rendering is outstanding for what it is and the lens is lovely to handle, but minimum focal distance is eight feet and I've mislaid my M42 extension tubes somewhere silly where I can't remember (I might deglass a 2x M42 T/C I've got). The 135mm/2.8 M42 "Formula 5" (complete with internal hood) is currently in the running for May; MFD is a more manageable 5ft and the filter thread matches the 55mm closeup dioptre filters I've got (I suspect the previous owner bought the filters to go with that lens). The SMC-M 135/3.5 has yet to be tried on the K-1...
You should be able to use a K-mount extension tube and put the M42 adapter on the female end of that.

I've had a couple of scares getting the adapter off again, and I don't want to risk a genuine Pentax article.

Today I actually got out of the house and I took lots of photos however only one was with my SI lens and it was awful and beyond help. So I give myself an A for effort but an F for execution. It was at a concert in a venue not typically used for concerts and the lighting was really harsh on stage It meant I could have the audience or performers but not both. To add insult to injury, I don't think it was properly in focus either . So I am not sharing it. Tomorrow I will do better. However on the bright side, I learned an important lesson - take more than one shot with SI lens so I will have a plan B.

No photo for me yesterday. I had planned to get a nice night shot in, but most of my night was taken up with volunteering at a community bike shot, then I was too tired.

Still been feeling pretty bad the last two days. I've had signs of vertigo when waking up or am 'stuck' in a half awake-half asleep state in the morning. Had this in the past but it's not really fun and makes you feel pretty bad for the rest of the day.

Still been out to take some photos, just not taking any time to look into any monitors as they tend to make me feel 'disconnected' and giddy when I have this.

Just edited the two photos.. Whitebalance may be off I've got sunglasses on (because I was too lazy to turn down the brightness!)

That's a lousy way to start the day. Hope you find ways to cope/treat/avoid it soon.

I have had something like that as well, no fun. Hope things get better soon.

Congrats on the Explore. (and I can't say I'm surprised) As I said in an earlier post, every Explore I've gotten has been an image posted to Single In.

Congrats on the explore!

The Helios 44-2 arrived today. the second thing I noticed is that it's a flare monster. and the first is the aperture ring is reversed: at 16 it is the widest and at 2 is the smallest. So either i have a cannibalized lens or is this normal? It does seem to give the swirly bokeh though

Not sure if it's "normal", but mine's the same.

I think that is the nature of a preset aperture.

With the ring with the numbers on it you select the desired aperture and with the other ring you close the blades.

I usually leave mine on f16 and only use the other ring. Usually don't know what aperture I'm using but n not that fussed about that..

Yes indeed. It sucks quite a lot of life out of one..

Thanks, glad to hear others have experienced similar, also very happy to hear that you're using the past tense.
Did you do anything particular to free yourself of it or did it just disappear?

Thanks Rod. I was mentioning it to Sharon this morning and she insisted that makes more sense that way! I have to admit I kind of agree with her.
