Well, it is time to bring 217 to a close. Thank you everyone who contributed. As always the selection of the next host is difficult and totally subjective. Great entries, each with a different approach and style, but I must select one.
D1N0 - A nice yesteryear look with a little damage from the years in the closet. The scene hasn't changed much over the decades.
Tas - You had two entries. A nicely done color and a sort of B&W with an interesting use of varying tint/hue between the foreground and the background.
astonm - Nice job of processing "on the run".
You may relax a bit, although I have calibrated my screen, I don't have a 24" monitor, just my laptop. I like your crop. You had the brightest of the entries.
newmikey - I like what you did with this. Your correct, that is does not have the realistic look, but it is not too overboard either. It has a unique look.
timb64 - A nice B&W conversion. I like the detail you were able to preserve in the mountains in the background.
james_saltwood - Perhaps a little too much clarity while trying to bring out the details, but otherwise a nice entry.
capmazariegos - Nice well balanced processing.
todd - I like what you did with this image. Just a slight haloing on the edge of Bonsai Roack and the trees on it, but otherwise well done.
PiotrKrochmal - I like the contrast you have in the background mountains and the detail you were able to bring out.
Arizona Dave - A well executed B&W conversion.
This part is never easy, but must be done. I generally try to process an image to be realistic and I appreciate the effort many of you did trying to accomplish the very same thing, but I also try not to bias my choice as to what I would have done. In fact I really enjoy it when I am suprised with something new. Therefore by precariously balancing the line between abstract and realistic I am going to select newmikey to host Challenge #218!
THE WINNER!:
