More a wet Christmas for me, hailstorm, then a thunderstrm and torrential downpour. Unfortunately, t all happened in near pitch black conditions, so no pix 😒

I made just a few images his weekend having forgotten a key piece of kit.. good gloves/mitts The morning temperature was just -20 C in Richards Landing - near Sault Ste. Marie. I didn't lose any digits, but it sure felt like it.

I have some excelent mittens that fold back to free the fingers. Unbeatable for cold weather shooting, sometimes I can activate the shutter without even folding back the mitten part.

I know all about how cold it can get in the Soo. In the early 90's I was on a ship tied up there over Christmas and it got so cold paint actually started to peel off the steel bulwarks in sheets. Definitely not the place to be without a good pair of gloves!!

When it gets really cold here (-25C and lower) we sometimes get "sun dogs" if there is enough moisture in the air:

Great effect! I was talking to my wife about the potential of ice crystals in the atmosphere refracting light... and there you go! Stay warm my friends.

Was staying in Austin Texas where the weather is in the high 20s. This qualifies for "bad" in Austin! Was hiking a trail and found that the cold affected one weed such that the sap broke through the bark near the ground and slowly extruded into the air to make formations that looked nothing so much as like feathers. They were everywhere along the trail.
