We might get some effects from a hurricane a few hundred miles away, hopefully I'll get some interesting shots, but not TOO interesting, if you know what I mean.

I hope you don't get the really bad stuff Rob. We have another member who lives in Virginia close to the coast who I'm communicating with but he says he thinks it's going to turn away from his area. I've got my fingers crossed and I'm praying he stays safe through this hurricane.

Same for you my friend!

Giving the lie to the "good pictures" part of the equation, here's a shot of Hurricane Florence taken from my porch here in Baltimore yesterday evening. The scale of these storms is mind-boggling: the center of the storm was over 300 miles away off Wilmington NC but, after checking the weather imagery, I have no doubt that those bands of clouds were associated with the system.

Thanks!
I hope the folks down the shore don't have it too rough.

I live about 200 miles from the ocean, and on high ground, so I'm hoping the wind won't be too severe. It's been dead, leaden overcast all day, not even interesting cloud shapes.

32 miles from my place, yesterday morning just before walking into the spar shop to start my day at work.

Raindrops on the windshield of my car, at the parking lot at work, just before going in for the day. There is a mid 1960's VW Beetle, white with primer gray fenders in front of me.

Pentax K5IIs, Sigma 28mm f2.8 mini Wide.

Cross posted.

A dramatic winter storm, crossing from Waratah Bay (to the west, on the right), over Yanakie Isthmus, to Corner Inlet and Wilson's Promontory, South Gippsland. K-3 + DA 55-300 PLM. The first is a stitch from 12 images at 70mm. All these shots were taken within 5 minutes.

Bye-bye, blue sky - taken last night as the clouds began rolling in. Looks like we're in for a weekend of rain and cooler temps. Vivitar (Komine) 28/2.8 CF:

Sadly, we were mostly socked in, with and what little lightning there was visible, it merely lit up the clouds like a big diffusion filter. Sun's out today, but cooler so I'll enjoy the early autumn weather and go to the car show.

Jeannie and I enjoyed a rainy dogwalk recently. She fares much better in the cooler weather
