Yes didn't the Toronto wusses get help from PEI back then as well?

lol well i lived in Toronto at that point (and still do) I have 0 issues with snow but there are a couple of factors that led to that that people conveniently ignore, the big one is in an 11 day period we got over 100cm of snow, in a big portion of the city there really is no place for it to go, lowing roads buried sidewalks etc, I lived up north and 100 cm would have been a struggle for us there in an area much easier to clear. the bigger the city the more debilitating a big snowfall is . it was by far the exception to the rule (estimated to have been a 200 year record for the area) , ...by the end of it I was taking the dog for leaps not walks the snow was over her head lol, I love a big snowfall, but in the city it is just ugly. that said I am considering a move to the east coast for retirement, Halifax is high on the list, ----i figure all that shovelling will keep me in shape the way golf has kept my 92-year-old dad in shape in Victoria

Thanks,

I drove by that and circled back 4 miles to take it. One of those scenes that took a couple minutes to soak in.

Went for a beach walk at Walkerville and a storm rolled in, with some lightning. Didn't have my tripod, so I went for a wide-ish angle and the longest exposure I thought I could manage handheld, 1/4th second. Fired a series of about 10 or 12 shots, then bingo! K-S2 and DA 18-135.
Hi Des

same area, hills above Foster, electrifying area with the storms this summer

Same day, same storm! Two Pentaxians, less than 20kms apart. What are the chance of that? Like getting struck twice by lightning!

Great shot, well done.

Anyone else like the look of flash in the middle of a snowstorm?

A diffuser to minimize blowing out the flakes nearest the camera might makes this shot even better, but it's a pretty cool idea. Actually you could try some colored cellophane as well, then the flakes illuminated by the flash would have a noticeably different color than the ambient light

I do not play with my flash enough

Excellent ideas! I'll keep those in mind for the next storm. Thanks!
