K3ii with DA16-85WR

My son and I had just got home from four days of camping and this rolled through while I was BBQing supper. At one point I was flipping steaks in a hail storm.

Strong winds of Storm Francis today, pointed the camera at a silver birch in the garden for a longish exposure with a little camera movement thrown in for good measure.

Lately I've kept my K7 in my truck all the time. On my way home from Elizabeth City this morning the clouds parted and had a surreal look to them. Since there was no traffic I stopped and took a few shots, hoping for a good one. Here it is.

Very atmospheric, in every sense. The masterstroke is the perspective from low to the ground. A plonker like me would have just taken it at waist level or eye level. That's the difference with a real photographer's eye.

Also posted in waterfalls, driving up the winding mountain road to find this waterfall meant driving into the clouds. It actually goes up further than you can see here.

Winter storm. Corner Inlet and Wilson's Promontory, Victoria, Australia. KP + DA 55-300 PLM (at 63mm); 13 horizontal images stitched in ICE. (Click through to Flickr for a larger view)

The previous week in August we had the first snowfall here in 15 years.

This won't mean much to those of you from cooler climates but it was very unusual here.
