Nothing dramatic weather wise, but the summer rain (actually quite welcome) providing a nice atmosphere down in the woods today

The view from my backyard on Saturday while I was cutting the lawn. I had to run in and grab my camera for this one. Clouds, meet smoke.

That's a very dramatic cloud. Great colours.

Fantastic look and feel, I like the way the highlights and shadows both feel film-like.

Thanks, its a look I often strive for so good to know I am hitting the mark. To be fair scenes like this don't need need much work, you just have to be there.

I too have started using film highlights as a benchmark for what I want my processing to look like. The super-smooth rolloff from detail to pure white is hard to get with digital as it's not how pixels respond to light, but as long as the highlights can be captured in full, they can be brought back up in post.

Heavy rain and thunder forecast today so I went out in search of dramatic clouds in the distance but ended up in the middle of it all and got thoroughly soaked, so did this little guy.

Outdoor photography isn't always predictable. I've set out with an idea in my mind for what type of picture I want to try for, and come home with something totally different as well. Here's a couple from early this year. I had gone out hoping to get an early morning panorama of the fog that quite often forms over the river on colder mornings. It was however completly socked in, but I ended up with these.

The sky background was very plain and boring, and there was very little colour in the photos anyway.

Yes, a very rare event when I actually come home (or maybe just am very happy with how it came out) with the photo I set out to get.

I like those, especially the middle one.
