It seemed to do much better. I had very few missed focus issues. Maybe 1 or 2 of every hundred shots was out of focus, maybe a few more that I missed for hunting but overall it did well. I shot my K-3 for the longer shots with a Tamron 70-200/2.8 and closer with the K-1 and 15-30 and a Metz 58 AF-2. I also adjusted the AF hold time so there is more than a single variable but the improvement is noticable.

I did separate cards with DNG to one and jpg to the other and have just been using the jpg files for speedier processing.

I use the same trick when doing gigs that need quick turn around or onsite printing.

Thanks for the feed back.. I'm waffling on the Mk I --> Mk II upgrade.

I probably wouldn't do the upgrade but I needed to buy something anyway because my K-1 was damaged. The difference in price was small enough I figured I'd get the latest version which also came with a free grip.
For me the AF-C improvements are worth it even if I only use that mode occasionally. When I do use it I need it to work.

It snowed here in Newfoundland not far above sea level as well. What a horrible June we've had here.

This is a re-post from 2013. About 10 minutes after I took this, the mother of all hailstorms blew in, followed by tornados. I didn't stick around...
