A thunderstorm rolled through here last night. I set up and patiently tried to get some pictures of lightning.

But.

The clouds were so low that the lightning was mostly in the clouds, and only lit the clouds up. Keep in mind it was after 9pm, and quite dark. The shadows of my house from the light on the shop can be seen across the yard, and lightning had illuminated the scene.

I feel like I got robbed.

I did get one shot of the lightning, and it looks like it hit a tree on the neighbor's property.

I left the camera out in the storm and hid in the car for some of this. Got a little close for comfort but I couldn't resist the photo potential!
Then it started hailing so I had to run out and rescue it. (x-post)

Clouds over the soccer field...surprisingly, we didn't get much rain this time - but it was quite hot!

Cracking shots mate. I've been in the same predicament before, can't resist the shots, but it gets sketchy real quick sometimes

Excellent shots.

I was caught in a spot of bad weather earlier this week, so bad that I had to pull over and wait it out. Unfortunately, none of the pictures I took came out particularly well.
Bad Weather Makes Good Pictures, but bad technique does not. Thunderstorms in tomorrow's forecast, fingers crossed for successful image making!

We just had an early winter storm, with fall leaves still on the trees adding a splash of colour everywhere:
