I was quite excited this morning I went for a hike and saw an animal walk out of the woods about a hundred yards ahead, and it was a bobcat, and I had a camera with the DA* 300 and DA 1.4 converter mounted. I got off a couple of quick shots before he turned and ran. This was the first time I've seen one not in a zoo, even though I think I saw one cross the same road (while driving from farther away) a couple miles away.

Great job getting the shot.

Some more Assateague Island wildlife. This is Bodacious Bob; a 20+ year old Pinto Stallion.

Great photo, sharp, great colour. There's too many rabbits here in Canberra too.

Thanks Rob. Actually I played around with the WB which seemed bit cool (4420K, -32 tint), but I couldn't improve on the AWB. The KP knows a lot more than I do.

Always too many rabbits, although they haven't been as bad in the last few years around here. Probably because of the foxes.

The AWB on the K3 is often more accurate than the editors I use, but perhaps with a tendency to be too green.

Yeah, the foxes are a big problem here, too. I don't understand why governments are always baiting for "wild dogs" but as far as I know, not for foxes.

Nice shot.

For a consumer grade zoom the 55-300 PLM really does a great job.

Another shot from Assateague Island. This is a young pony who was traveling with the rest of the group but couldn't figure out how to scale the wooden guard rail. Obviously, she has not mastered jumping.

Almost.

Spoiler alert, she figured out a workaround and was reunited. Here is a link to a short album showing her attempts. Persistent Youngling | Flickr
