Man, there are some fantastic photos on this thread. And some terrific family history stories, I really love that part and hope to contribute my modest share.
Here are some shots of a couple local horses that a neighbor recently acquired. Who ever had them did a mighty fine job, they are really nice and I enjoyed being with them.

Some horses in a nearby field, the white one up front always comes up to say hello everytime I go along this footpath.

I liked the way the sun was shining through the smoke in this one,

Some Dartmoor ponies from the past couple of months. Kinda like horses, but shorter and more rotund.

Some horses that a friend raises. The weather was a wee bit nasty so she didn't want to let them out. Therefore I took the shots with the inside lighting of incandescent & compact fluorescent, & a little outside light thru a window.

A recent one of mine, and a favourite from my grandfather's archives I didn't find until I started to dig through his negatives. My grandmother in the field behind the hay rake, Saskatchewan, early 1920's.
