So, shameless plug. Adam took a chance on me about a month ago, and gave me a chance to write for the website. Today, Pentax Forums published my first article:

Travel Photography - Making the Most of Your Opportunity - Articles and Tips | PentaxForums.com

Even for an old ex-journalist like me, gotta admit, it's exciting.

It is a well written article. Back in the day I traveled all over the Rockies with two bodies and three lenses. Plus a bag full of film!

well done, I enjoyed the article. I agree with taking minimal kit. I seldom have time, or desire to stop and swap lenses.

Later this year I may be travelling a bit, and living out of a ruck sack, possibly in austere conditions with unusual weather. I plan on using the K-5 and the 18-135 WR as my main lens.

Sounds like fun!

BTW, I'm in with the Super-Multi-Coated Macro Takumar 50mm f/4. I'm liking how it performs on the Q (and it's tough to find a lens that adapts well for that).

I'm in. One of my favorite ASP-C lenses is the DA* 50-135. Since I'm now shooting with a K-1 I'm going to go with the equivalent FOV, 70-200mm Sigma EX DG. This is the older non macro version. Since I featured the DFA 100mm macro in May, I'll have to pass on the macro lens, but a telephoto can be used as a close focus lens in certain situations.

still pondering, with 4 days to go....

if my A50/1.4 returns in time from Advance Camera, that'll be the ticket... otherwise, I'll possibly run with the A200/4, which has yet to be Singled.....

and the Month of Monochrome is still a very tempting thought....

edit....

ugh - UPS shows a delivery date of Monday for the A50/1.4...

I think I'm ready to jump back in. My participation has been pathetic for several months now.

Maybe another of my newish 645 lenses. The 55/2.8 is the only weather resistant option, which in the depths of winter is tempting.

Mind you the F28/2.8 has never been singled either. On the KP it would give an identical field of view to the Z/55 combo....

since my chosen lens will be arriving late, I'll shoot with her in August - this month will be a macro month, with my favorite lens: Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 72B....

I did go out this mrning and shot with the 18=135mm, so that will be the SIC lens this month.

In the US, its Independence day weekend, which means BBQ and fireworks! I'll probably use the 8mm Fisheye to take it all in tonight.

Thinking about something and actually doing it do not necessarily follow

I wanted to go with a LOMO 35KP 1.8/120 in July but in the end I realized that there is quite a bit of machining to be done to reach anything beyond 6 meters. Therefore I grabbed and adapted another lens for the month so I'll be going with it for July. I wanted to do a plasmat month for a while now so here it is. It is a Boyer Paris Saphir 1:3.5 F=75mm, designed by Suzanne Lévy-Bloch for Boyer and sold sometimes during the fifties in France, s/n 465101.
