Hover fly

This little fella kept going the wrong direction for me, wanted him head on or sideways...
Oh well, I will have more chances.

Pentax K5IIs - SMCP-FA31mm f/1.8 Limited ASPH @f/2.8 1/1250th ISO 80 [ Manually focused ]

Wings are still a blur - IF I wanted to freeze their motion, I would have had to use flash....but we all know Bees fly, right? no-one is going to make the argument they are little flying pollen spreading dirigibles that only use their wings for their aesthetic appeal?

Small White

This is part of a 14-image series of butterfly photos taken between 2018-07-06 and 2018-08-02. All were with the K-1 and DA*300; 9 of them were taken within the space of an hour, in an area about 240x80m, and are of 8 different species, with a couple more species being taken in the same area during the next few weeks. The rest were at various times and places in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Surrey.

Rather than spam a single thread with all 14 images, I thought it would be fun to post them in different threads and provide a link from one to the next. Follow the links to threads you might otherwise never have looked at!

Onwards!

golden dragonfly

Bugs in flight are hard to capture, I'm impressed with the previous photos. I was lucky to get this one, I was on a kayak, it was holding the grass and it was windy. The wind hit just right and the dragonfly let go, flew and then grabbed the grass again.
