bif: Bug in flight

this is a take off of the BIF, birds in flight thread inspired by photographs of dragonflies photographed while flying by Digitalis and MacLoz in this thread

Flying dragonflies - PentaxForums.com

it is for those photographs catching a bug [ insect ] in flight, whether by luck or intentional

any type of camera or lens welcomed, wide angle, macro, normal, telephoto

if possible, please include info on the equipment used to capture these images especially if the EXIF data link isn't available

crop or no crop

cross posting ok

and if your photo is just a bit off consider posting it in this thread instead:

Missed It By That Much! - PentaxForums.com

Great idea for a thread, certainly not the easiest of subjects. Heres a few I have managed,

Interestingly, both of these were captured on manual focus lenses, a Jupiter 11a 135mm and M 100mm macro, not sure autofocus would of locked on quick enough to get the shot in these cases.

All the credit for this thread should go to MacLoz

it was his thread which gave me the idea to start this one

the photos of Digitalis added to that thread also encouraged me to do the same.

if anyone wants to see great photos of bugs in flight please check out the thread which inspired this one:

a possible useful tool:

All you have to do, they say, is whip out your smartphone and download the iNaturalist app. Created by the California Academy of Sciences, iNaturalist allows anyone to take a picture of an animal (or plant or fungi or whatever) and make an attempt to identify it. Then others, including experts, weigh in on whether your ID is correct or not. Think of it as a bit like Pokémon Go, only you’re trying to “catch” real creatures instead of Charizards and Vaporeons.

On the day of the eclipse, theapp will feature a special drawdown menu that allows you to record observations leading up to, during, and after the astronomical event. Simply keep an eye out for any interesting or unusual behavior and snap a few pics while you enjoy the show

This photo is quite heavily cropped to feature the flying bee, but the k70 + DA 16-85 has plenty of resolution. I like the pattern and colors on the wings.

Went out with my Takumar 200 3.5 this morning and found lots of dragonflies. Here are some samples.
All shot with K-70 at either 1/320s or 1/160s and I believe they were all around f5.6
