Eclipse from NJ....

I used a 600mm 5.6 A* lens with a thousand oaks filter attached to the front... it was so dark that Unless i had the sun in view, there was no light.
I think there are sunspots (see second image).

I wasn't even going to take any pictures... don't have an ND filter on my longest lens (300mm) which would be a bit short anyway.

But my son took our lowly RZ18 point and shoot I gave him, so I had that in my hands, and I also had the solar glasses which seemed like a perfect fit for the front element of the lens... so I ended up trying a few shots. Nothing compared to the excellent shots seen here, of course, but I'll have the memories The shots are very noisy, as you would expect from my point and shoot experience with no preparation, the camera chose ISO 800... yikes. I did apply some noise reduction in RawTherapee.

We are getting there...

And here it is

I wasn't too successful with the Diamond Ring but I kind of like it nonetheless.

Those were 3 the times I shot. The rest of the time I just enjoyed with the wife and kids

The format of this challenge will be like any of our other weekly challenges, and it will be open until the 28th.

No photo to submit but I do have a question:
Is it possible to bring all posted photos of the eclipse in ONE single thread, like this one?

Some great stuff here. I really wasn't expecting to get much, first time trying this sort of thing. I was happy just to not fry my camera . Used a 10 Stop, 6 Stop and a polarizer with K1 and 60-250. Here in Raleigh we got to about 93% coverage I think. This was a little before max, but I like the sunspots here. Loved being able to use the Image Sync App on iPad to watch the Eclipse, show the kids, and control the camera. Worked like a charm.

Baker City Oregon Eclipse

I took 28 different exposures of totality, the auto bracketing of my K5iis was marvelous. Shot with Sigma 400 apo at f8/ISO200 at 1/3200, 1/60 and 1/13. I threw in a ring shot.

Eclipse from Santee, SC

Selected as the 'worst place to view the eclipse' because it was the easiest drive for 74 Million people, it nevertheless had clear-ish skies.

These were, I think done with the K1, SMC-K 300 f4 at around f11

The one cloud...

And totality...

I have some other good stuff I did with the K-01 and its smaller sensor, but coming home took 6 hours for about 130 miles... I'm done...

We were in the path of totality but had forecasted cloud cover. A three hour drive landed us at my parents' doorstep about 10 minutes before the show began. Luckily, they had mostly clear skies.

It was touch and go in central Nebraska for the clouds at totality, but in fact the extra drama gave some perspective to my images.

Here's my meager attempt. We had about 60% coverage here in Montréal. I wasn't planning on shooting it, but reading AstroDave's quick guide a few minutes before the start changed my mind. I think the hardest part was finding the appropriate step-up rings!

K-3 with Pentax-M 200mm F/4, Tokina MC7 2X tele-converter, and a couple of Firecrest IRND filters (a 1.2 and a 2.7). The crops with the sun come out at 1600x1600. Also added a Pentax 1.4X HD DA AW tele-converter for two of these shots, and then scaled them down to match the others. I'm impressed that the old Pentax 200mm seems very well-calibrated for infinity. I tried to use my HD DA 55-300mm, but focusing was really difficult...

Yes, my sentiment exactly. Just wondering... aren't your shots reversed with respect to the chronological order? At least over here, the moon came at the sun from the right, so your order would be reversed..?

I didn't have much luck, brought a lot of equipment but relied on aperture and ISO and shutter speed. Even with the sun 95%+ obscured, 1/6400 at f32 ISO 100 was a bright blob. I did get one lucky shot at totality, only saved b/c I turned on IS at the last second.

yeah, it goes from right to left. I obviously did not put too much thinking into it but I was not even planning on doing it at first
This should be better
