I'll play. Out shooting pics of osprey the other day, and decided to turn my D FA 150-450 on some flowers I was standing by.

Ok I'll bite. I say A 50 1.4 or SMC SuperTakumar 50 1.4 shot at f 4.0. Could even be a reversal ring :-)

I'll play. The look of the greens is, I think, that of the kit 18-55 lens, which focuses quite close.

Next clue =

PENTAX Super Protect (SP) coating helps repel dust, water, and grease, making the lens easier to clean.
An aspherical lens element helps to compensate for spherical aberration to maximize image quality.
Weather resistant to handle damp, inclement conditions.
Direct Current (DC) motor supports quick, quiet autofocus operation.
PENTAX Quick Shift focus system allows instant on-the-fly switching from auto to manual focus.

Nailed !

I got myself a K3 and the DA 18-135 was part of the kit . I will be playing with the 18-135 some more when the +8 Close focus filter gets here . ( I used a +4 for the pictures posted in Aperture priority (F10 )
Really looking forward to seeing if this lens can do it all .

It can do plenty in skilled hands, which yours obviously are: DA 18-135 WR, Show us what it can do - PentaxForums.com

@Normhead has been an advocate for this lens for years. His point is that centre sharpness leaves little to be desired, and that it's a lens with its own character, not one designed for the numbers.

It's contrasty, produces rich pleasant colours, and has quite good flare resistance. Bokeh can be hit and miss, but when it's good (as in the samples above) it's really good (for a zoom). The lack of corner sharpness that it's sometimes criticised for improves a lot if you can stop down to f8 or so; it wouldn't be first pick for the classic corner-to-corner sharp landscape shot, but it does OK even there. And at wider apertures, with the main subject somewhere in the middle two-thirds of the frame, soft corners don't matter much - in fact they can accentuate the subject.

Yes it's slow, and not the first choice for indoor/low light shooting, where one of the f2.8 zooms would be more suitable. But outdoors it can shine - not too heavy, WR, quiet AF, very versatile, reasonable MFD (40 cm), and does a pretty good job for close focus/pesudo macro shots like those above. At the longer end, switch to a 55-300 if possible, but it's still quite serviceable at 135mm. As a walkaround/travel lens it's really good.

For the non-pro, you could travel the world with this lens, a 55-300 and one compact prime and not really want for anything.

DA 18-135 outdoors, in its element:

(Bokeh a little nervous here, but not too bad)

Soft corners? Does it matter?

Better bokeh here:

At f22 - sharp enough, even with a diffraction hit:

At 135mm - not perfect, but good enough:

Indoors, no flash - not ideal, but OK:

Plenty to like with this lens.
