LBA has struck again. Found an unusual m42 lens at the local camera shop: an Auto Rikenon EE 50mm f/1.4. Apparently it was made specifically for a Ricoh SLR with a unique metering system. It has a stop down-pin, but no manual/auto switch, so I (reluctantly) brought out the superglue to secure the pin.

Here's a quick test shot at f/8. This lens is not lacking in the "creative flare" department:

Nice find.
A bit late now you have glued already but there is a fairly simple way of doing that that's completely reversible. It involves removing the back plate and using a small plastic tube, like from a ball point pen or cotton swab, to fit over the pin and hold it closed.
Depending on the lens not usually difficult to do, Google probably has pictures of most. Just watch out for any springs that may ping off and be lost forever.

Dropping out again. Winter after school activities leave me too tired too often. Sorry.
Too bad. It's really OK to post sporadically through the month too. I know others may feel differently, but for me even if you are only dropping a photo on us every three or four days that's OK.

how is it possible that there is a K35/3.5 for sale in the Marketplace for a C-note that has not been snapped up? If I didn't have an exemplary copy, I would not have posted this message..... *

*I have no connection the seller of the above-mentioned lens, just mystified at how long that it's been sitting there... screaming at me....

a second edit: there are actually two K35/3.5's in the Marketplace at this time for $100....

(I gotta go to work and stop this meandering....)

I got nothing for today. We've had family here most of the day. Kids of kids, and their kids, some big, some little, and some in between, I'm tired and going to bed shortly.

I'm officially out for this month. I haven't been able to find time and motivation to shoot for the last 6 or 7 days and I don't see things improving in the next week.

I'm still trucking along. Sometimes I might go out for several days at a time or the hours I choose to shoot mean that I'm out so late (or early) that I leave the post-processing until the next day. So I don't always post on the day I shoot.

Aha! I found the discussion thread. Hi all! I've managed to a photo every day so far, but the last few days of the month might be a challenge. Sorry about all the bird photos, but wildlife photos were the reason I bought the DFA 150-450. Now if people wouldn't keep telling me how it looks like a weapon... :P

Apparently one of my photos made Explore a couple days ago:

I don't consider this to be the best shot I've taken all month, by any means. But such is the random finger of Explore ...

I told you it was good. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but Explore could

Congratulations! The only times that my photos have made it into "Explore" have been when I've been involved in the "Single In" group. So thanks to everyone here for your support!

When I signed in for October, I knew that I have knee operation on 26th and was prepared that I will have limited shot options that day. But for some reason I didn't realize that my moving would be pretty limited for the rest of the month. Getting good shots is really getting a challenge

I do what I can for the rest of the month, but I'm skipping November at least. Usually it's the ugliest month of the year here so it's not a big loss. More likely I return to SIC at some point next year. There's still lot of lenses I want to go thru.
