Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm still around.
Did try to jump in in October but for some reason suddenly quite all forums I frequented and was thinking about other things than taking the camera out with me. (or maybe I was too lazy to take it with me? Who knows)

Might be back for December or might possibly do a daily for Dec.

Hey, all - I'm currently 300 miles away from home and caring for my stepfather, who is recovering from pneumonia. It's been a wild day - currently waiting for an outpatient procedure - and probably I'm going to be out of commission, shooting wise, for the rest of the week. I'll try to comment when I can.

Hi All - last day of the month! My apologies for the lack of comments from me on the photos of others. Work has been crazy, but I plan to catch up this weekend. Thanks to everyone for your feedback. I was thinking of doing next month with the Sigma 8-16, but next month will be really busy, andI'm travelling at Christmas time, so posting will be impractical.

The last few days of the month became very busy and I fell out of the photography game. I will say, I've never done a challenge with anything as long as the DA*200 before, and it was quite a challenge. It is an amazing lens, in quality and rendering and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a professional quality 200mm lens. It does have a bit of a long focus throw, but with the quick shift I was able to bring the lens to near focus and the auto focus would acquire a lock right away.

I will not likely be in for December. I have a wedding to shoot on the 16th which is going to consume a few days of my time, with shooting, editing, printing and etc. I will look to join again in January as I have a few more new toys to pull out and put through the paces.

wrapping up the month with the review...

for November, I used my recently-purchased copy of the SMC 35mm f3.5 (aka K35/3.5) - I was told before I bought the lens that the lens has a sterling reputation and that I should enjoy it...

they were right - this thing drips with pixie dust...

the only negative thing I can think of for this lens is its relatively-slow maximum aperture of f3.5 - if you are OK with this, you'll love this lens; if you are a low-light fanatic, you're going to be frustrated unless you like bumping up the ISO...

fine, negativity out of the way, let's talk color - point this lens at reds, I was told... it loves red; it also loves blue and green and orange and yellow and brown... any color, the K35/3.5 loves it...

bokeh is not always smooth with the five-blades in the iris, but you'll see old-school penta-bokeh if you're less than wide open...

typical of K-series lenses, this one is built like a tank and is a joy to operate - smooth focus ring, snickety-goodness on the aperture ring, and well built all around...

in short - this lens is a keeper, no reason to not have a K35/3.5 in your collection, especially if you find a good copy at a decent price...
