My most recent posting happens to fit in here when I first saw this pop up, so here it is - I might filter in a few more later

Sometimes you get lucky

Here's my waffle on Flickr for this image:

'ello 'ello 'ello, what's goin' on 'ere then eh?

So there you are, feet in the water minding your own business, taking souless photos when a young bloke sticks his head over the side of the wall and prevents you from wasting your time. Jolly good timing old chap. (Oh dear, I think I've become Biggles).

But what was I doing at Woody Point? Well, I'm glad you didn't ask...so it was like this...I looked out my window, saw some awesome clouds and jumped in the car for the coast. I chose Woody Point on the way. Mind you south towards Cleveland may have ended up better, but I'll never know for sure, and I certainly don't care.

Anyhoo, so I was somewhat disappointed when I got to Woody Point, but it was what it was, and there's no such thing as a wasted trip to the sea. Along the pathway near the jetty are some stairs down to the water. I was down there hanging out, as you do, when in the middle of some mediocre shots this young bloke appeared. I had to include him as now there was a point to the image. Hooray for inquisitiveness then.

The image was opened in Lightroom, cropped to square format some vibrance and sharpening in CS6, then a texture added in Perfect Photo Suite 7. Best viewed by left clicking on the photo then pressing F11 for fullscreen.

Rosebud, Victoria

Dromana, Victoria - one of the more boring jetties.

Flinders, Victoria (OK, I actually was focussed on the decrepit slipway, but the jetty is there.

Do you carry the horse mussel shells around with you? Adds a lot to the image.

This was not really a photogenic angle to get the light which meant I was left with either a big black blob or a pile of rocks. I went with the blob but neither option was good. Should have put the 50mm on sooner.

Lake pier again - I like the way the clouds were pointing to the same place as the pier

Cottage docks on a northern lake. Maybe a bit smaller than a jetty, but there you go.

In Oz we would call that a jetty.
If it juts out over the water to give access to a boat it's a jetty.
A pier is bigger, a wharf really big and juts out less and is constructed along the bank.
I don't think I have ever heard "dock" used to describe a single structure.
Docks are a areas of several wharves/piers.
Isn't language interesting when you converse with someone from another country?! (Or even from a different part of your own country; just wait for other Aussies to shoot me down)

Two shots taken on the wharf by the east Channel on Ward's Island, Toronto on different dates in 2016. This would have been a very busy pace back in the day.
