Feeble? Never heard that used as a noun before.

Not much chance of seeing a big surge or wave around here. The fjord is not wide or straight enough for a storm to pick up much speed, and too well sheltered by hills all around.

Sounds as though those rocks were a solution in search of a problem.

On the other hand, maybe they are a problem hoping the solution will justify their presence.

I suspect the people who constructed this were thinking about sturdiness and durability.

The Red Arrows photo-bombing Paignton Pier last summer (although afterwards somebody told me that a fisheye isn't the ideal lens for an airshow).

Went back to Nudgee Beach recently and captured the eastern end of this small jetty on the estuary. K-1 and the Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 ZK @ f2.

Gee, this Forum is educational!
Well, maybe not the Forum itself, but the enquiring mind goes off to Mr Google to search out topics that get mentioned.
Today I've learnt about the Amistad.
Today I also learnt about the seige of Dunkirk - I followed a lead from another thread (a reference to Sherman tanks, nicknamed Firefly) and that lead me to the second battle at Dunkirk where firstly the Canadians and then the Czechs beseiged Dunkirk from October 1944 to 9 May 1945 - kept 10,000 German forces pinned down until VE Day +1.

Yes. I don't know if it was the actual ship (very doubtful), the replica used to make the movie (that's what I think it is) or a replica made locally for display (possible, but I don't think the ship and its story were sufficiently well-known before the movie to prompt construction of a replica as a tourist attraction). There must have been an informative sign somewhere, but I didn't find it.

I strongly suspect this Maine harbor has a large tidal rise-fall.

Boats dominate this image, but there are some piers, docks, quays, whatever to which the boats are attached.

Scan from a chrome taken in '93. This little dock was a long walk down a trail from the road. I think the purpose is allow small boaters to stop and enjoy the tiny but lovely beach. We had this spot entirely to ourselves. Virgin Islands BTW
