Manual zoom people: How you got your cameras set?

Being fortunate to have the A setting on the A 35-105/3.5, I'm rocking TAv mode with SR off and the focal length set to some nonsense number (65mm). What are some other methods?

'A' setting on the A35-105/3.5, Av mode with SR on, focal length set to 100mm (since that's as close to 105 as I'm allowed to set)...

manually setting ISO and aperture via e-dials.. I usually have EV set to -1 also...

I usually shoot Av mode generally (it's what's comfortable for me), and I leave SR on (with a bit of anxiety, I admit - I may start turning it off). If I'm shooting in a controlled environment, as I was today, I'll usually set the focal length to something close to what I'm actually shooting. Today, that was 70mm.

Are you worried at all about SR incorrectly compensating at shorter focal lengths? (I don't know what the science behind this may be...)

Why EV -1? Just in case, to save highlights? (Not a bad idea...)

I'm setting the focal length to a middling value, say 50mm for my 28-80. Generally using AV, which is my normal mode. I might try some others. I'm also going to play with different colour settings like vibrant and bright to see what happens rather than my default neutral. I think I might need to play with sharpness and contrast too. I might try to set up a custom thing for this lens if I can work out how to do it!

not worried at all - if you read the myriad threads about setting SR for a manual zoom, there is no consensus and little-to-no factual evidence being reported... so I pick the longest length of the zoom and away I go...

seems to work for me, so far...

on the exposure compensation - sometimes, I'll even run more into the negative... not just to save highlights, but I like to work with an underexposed shot in my post-processing workflow...

plus, you usually note that my photos are too dark for your liking...

Unless this headache goes away sometime before dark, I won't have a photo for today.

Congratulations! Well-deserved, in my opinion.

My stepfather is not in a good place, health-wise. I'm headed to Indiana to help care for him. Taking a camera with me, but I'll likely be incommunicado for a bit.
