It's a plan/idea of mine to move there (but not an island) and perhaps go into tourism for a part time living. Renovation/building is what I do anyway.
Sounds like a great plan.

The lighthouse island in Donegal is about 3km off the coast and it is the Atlantic ocean. As you can imagine the storms can be fierce and waves massive! You'd be stuck there a lot of the time as ferries to other islands are regular non runners and hence why nobody has bought it.
Gentle zephyrs compared to Maatsuyker Island. ;-)

Nothing like 176km winds and rain blowing upwards to blow off the cobwebs of the marriage. ;-)

We flew past it on the way to Melaleuca in 2017. Very remote and beautiful.

Another lighthouse

This one is at Crow Head, Twillingate, Newfoundland, Canada. My mother-in-law lives not too far away and this is a favourite place to visit when we go to see her.

I can't believe with all the lighthouses in Atlantic Canada that I forgot these ones:
#1 is the famous (infamous?) Peggy's Cove Lighthouse near Halifax - also a great contender for "most photographed lighthouse in Eastern Canada"
#2 is a view of the Port-aux-Basques (Newfoundland) light from the ferry to the mainland on the way out of port in the winter.
#3 is the lighthouse in Baddeck, Nova Scotia at sunrise.

Not Much Of A Lighthouse

I guess it must do the job... well there's no shipwrecks on the beach.

Looks more of a solar powered beacon to me, maybe for navigation or triangulation, surely it can't spread out beams of light?

You may well be right, I’m not nautical in any way apart from my Great Grandfather was a Lightship Captain.

This one sits on a spit of beach which projects out between where two seas meet, the Aegean and Mediterranean.

I thought there was too much sand for your country.

1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse. Relocated to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St Michaels, MD

The Hooper Strait Lighthouse was originally built in 1879 to light the way for boats passing through the shallow, dangerous shoals of Hooper Strait, a thoroughfare for boats bound from the Chesapeake Bay across Tangier Sound to Deal Island or places along the Nanticoke and Wicomico Rivers. As a “screwpile” lighthouse, it is built on special iron pilings which were tipped with a screw that could be turned into the muddy bottom for a depth of 10 feet or more. CBMM’s lighthouse is the second lighthouse constructed at Hooper Strait – the first one was destroyed by ice in 1877.

Speaking of lighthouses, I should have been there with my camera, but couldn’t go - Rubjerg Lighthouse on the west coast of Denmark had to be moved, otherwise it would have been “eaten” by the North Sea.
A local bricklayer accepted the challenge
