I doubt anyone will have posted a photo of this lighthouse before. It's on Cliffy Island (Cliffy Island Lighthouse - Wikipedia) in the Seal Islands group in Bass Strait (the body of water between Tasmania and the Australian mainland), about 20kms off the east coast of Wilson's Promontory. The islands are part of Wilson's Promontory National Park. The lighthouse was built in 1884 from local granite. The light is 52m above sea level. This shot was taken from a long way away with the K-3 + FA*300 f4.5 + Kenko 1.5x TC.

Lighthouse in action, moon on the rise. Was actually waiting for northern lights to appear, but turned 180˚ to shoot some pictures of the lighthouse behind us. I have previously posted a picture of the same lighthouse shot in daylight.

Some fool decided it was a good idea to build the lighthouse directly off the sand, the replacement is in the background on firmer ground. They should have read this:

Several Lighthouses visited over the years...

The two New Jersey lighthouse photos were taken with my old K100D. The two Michigan lighthouse photos were taken with my K-70.

Cape May Lighthouse, Cape May, NJ

Absecon Lighthouse, Atlantic City, NJ

Mackinaw Lighthouse - Mackinaw City, MI - Lake Huron

Pt Iroquois Lighthouse, Whitefish Bay, UP MI - Lake Superior

Choptank River Light.

Built in the “screwpile” style characteristic of the Chesapeake Bay. The original light was established in 1871 near Oxford MD. It was was replaced in 1921 with the current design. The light was decommissioned in 1964. This replica, located in Cambridge, MD, was built utilizing original plans made available by the National Archives and was dedicated in 2012. It is a faithful replica of the earlier beacon that guided sailing vessels up and down the Choptank River for over 40 years.
