Thought you might be interested in a new photobook with many "buildings past their best" - "Saskatchewan Book" by George Webber. He spent 30 years photographing in small towns across the province. A few examples:

Very difficult to do. The prison was on a peninsular with a row of very hungry dogs guarding the thin neck of said peninsular.
The building wasn't destroyed until a bush fire swept through the settlement some years after the prison was closed.

These houses are in a market garden area north of the City originally drained by Dutch settlers. Sometimes newer houses were built next to the old one without clearing the old one away.

Maybe my final visit - the wreckers have moved in.
Edit: actually there is some demolition work taking place but now I see the building is to be restored.
