Sunset from my yard, Sunday night. The light rays coming through the trees didn't last long, and I barely had time to adjust exposure and catch them before they were gone. K1 and Pentax F35-105 @ 63mm, f8.

I really wanted an Africa twin when I was younger, late teens or so. I saw one in a parking lot once when I was living in northern Canada when I was in my late 20's the only original one I've ever seen in person. I waited outside the grocery store for the rider to come out, turned out it was a German couple that had ridden from South America and we're on their way to Alaska. Their plan was to head back down to around Banf, and sell the bike before flying home. I gave them my contact info and told them to call me if they had any issues finding a buyer, but never heard from them again. The new ones look like really fun bikes too.

That's a cool story, it reminds me of the excellent old well-known book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I think we've all had a motorcycle dream!

Much appreciated! Yes, this was in August when the water level is actually at its lowest. In times of flash floods (and runoff from distant storms) and snowmelt, it can become quite full (and dangerous!) prompting its closing.

I could probably post this one here as well as the bad weather thread. It was a pretty miserable day, but on my way home from work the sun poked through the clouds and lit up this mountain that towers over the city. I turned around and went back to the roof of a parking garage where I was able to take this shot, being careful to exclude the city streets from the shot. The light on the mountain was so bright compared to everything else that I actually had to reduce the highlights a bit.
