Post Processing Challenge #278 - El Cid Statue

Couldn't decide on anything last night so intended to go out before work this morning to offer something fresh, but that didn't happen... So settled on this never-before-processed shot from May 2017, since it seems to have a good bit of challenge and possibilities to it.

Do whatever you want, as many entries as you want. The challenge closes automatically to additional entries on Tuesday, December 4th at 10:37am PST and I will finalize the contest asap that day.

Here's where this shot was taken, for the curious: Google Maps

Note to the winner: Please copy and post this info into the next challenge.

The DA15 has already prepared the ground... umm, the skies for dramatic clouds, so going with that.

A lot like @savoche (though I did it without reviewing the other suggestions...)

AsahiGlass - bw done very nicely. Good levels. corrections. Some sky detail would have been nice imo but also refreshing in a way to completely remove them. A simple way to 'correct'. very nice use of the blues and reds in your color version.

savoche - thought your entry was deleted as it disappeared on me one day, until today I threw the thread link into a less restricted browser than my main beast where the host was then allowed again, so I could view it again.. you really packed a punch (as you often do with your bw's) with the details and sky, which are the two main things I was looking for, especially the clouds, since they were the main reason I did an LE (although nothing all that interesting happened).

noelcm - nice toning and bringing forth of the details. Toning seems appropriate since it's a bronze statue. Another 'clouds what clouds' version that works.

johnhilvert - The red flag was a great choice and very well executed. nice details conveyed in the statue and clouds as well. you handled the blown highlights nicely.

tuggie76 - good old play sums it up well! great toning and details and background swap. You put El Cid on a diet too which as a military leader he may not have appreciated. He probably forgives you since you've given him a victorious celebration behind him. As with noel, the 'bronziness' of the statue is well conveyed here. The nugget find of interesting details and colors in the flag are a lot of fun too.

Glenn5995 - you almost knocked El Cid off his rocker and I'm sure he doesn't mind. You executed your vision for this presentation so well! It looks like it might have been a lot of masking work but it sure packs a punch!

jcsnyc - I do see the similarities with savoche's entry. nicely done.

Ok, the winner is savoche. Congrats!

Runner up goes to johnhilvert.

Thanks Todd for the reviews and I agree and applaud Savoche as winner.

I'm learning so much from these events.

Dodge, crop, burn and mask with minimalism and with flair.

Oh... Thanks! You picked the worst of days for announcing this - expecting an intense 14 hour workday today. If I'm still alive tomorrow I'll search for an image in dire need of post processing

Thanks for hosting and judging, todd! See you all when I (hopefully) resurface.
