I've seen some good photos of watertowers here, and I'm going to link to a few of the good ones to get things going - it never occurred to me that people would have built watertowers out of brick, but those pictures taken in Europe seem to suggest that's the normal thing there.

And then, somewhat more prosaically, a couple of my own, the first (twins off in the distance) near Parkersburg, W.Va. (the building in the foreground is a mausoleum), and second, a watertower behind George Washington High School, Alexandria, VA. (it used to be painted with a huge red and white checkerboard pattern so that low-flying propeller driven airplanes would notice it - back in the days of the DC-3, it was on the flight path to approach National (now "Reagan National") Airport):
