Autumnal Gate - great colour options

Playing with ON1 Photo Raw 2019. Trying to be more real than garish for a change.

My immediate thinking was Sepia would be good.

Or some high contrast/high saturation

And somewhat de-saturated

Dear All,

Very nice entries. Deciding who the next host will be wasn't easy!

Starting from the last entry and working up to the first:

Tas - I really like the dark and foreboding feel you gave to the gate in B&W. It really plays up the bits of white on the gate and produces a feel like it's a frame from a movie.

Tuggie76 - The intense color screams "autumn" all over it and I really like the fact that you have accentuated the tree trunk and the creeping vines in your version.

Glenn5995 - On the other hand, the decision to crop out the tree trunk and put the gate in middle does get to the point. I also like the handling of the color in your version.

noelcmn - Of the three flavors you offered up, the sepia version is the one I like best. The others do have a bit of "dreamy" to them, though.

johnhilvert - An interesting crop variant that I certainly wouldn't have thought of trying. The positioning of the gate puts the left pillar just about in the middle and the grey is a point of focus I like the color's tonal range and the gritty nature of this version. This is most like my perception of the actual scene and you have captured it almost verbatim without actually being there (That is, if my memory serves me correctly!)

May I please have the envelope...

And the Host of PP Challenge # 290 will be...

johnhilvert! Congratulations to you, johnhilvert, and thank you to all for participating!

Skyfire 2019 is PP # 290

Thanks so much. I am so excited as it was my first win after three years of contributing to this competition. I learn so much from the competition as well.
