Is it possible that during the exposure, no vehicle passed through the road, but turned off? Just guessing. I think the oblong is an artifact of how the lights from vehicle(s) are interacting with lens elements, aperture blades, etc., rather than there being an oblong object actually blocking the light. Still just guessing!

A very neat result, however it was produced!
