Garlic cloves and a half-onion.
The cloves were taken with a single, hand-held torch light, and the onion was bathed in sunlight at near sunset.

Nice work! I am still experimenting with using a flash light (torch) to act as a fill light. Same with natural light. Glad this thread is getting some interest

Really enjoying people's contributions.

Perhaps this is getting more 50/50 though:

A few more I took yesterday. K3ii + 18-135 WR

Lettuce in black and white? I wasn't sure I could post process it into something I didn't hate.

And one in color... I wish I would have stopped down a bit further, for a more even DOF, but hey, I'm still learning

Maybe it is 50/50, but it's perfect! Great shot!

That second one is excellent. Looks like it should be on the cover of Rolling Stone!

Thanks That was a fun concert in one of my favorite places. I always bring my camera when I go there, and I decided to try something new and push film instead of shooting digital (hp5+ pushed to iso 3200 in dd-x). I only guessed the exposure right for the front row of musicians, the drummer, bass player and others were too much in the shadow and I only got very thin negatives. But it was a fun experiment that I'm planning to repeat.

I don't know... is this really low key? Sometimes trying to photograph him is like trying to take a picture of something that isn't really there.

Another oldie, taken at the American Airlines Museum (not sure if it qualifies as low-key):
