Here's my take, crop and some colour tweaking. Might revisit this and do a black and white version as well.

Had another go, black and white with some slight toning and a wider crop cutting the light source out. Very much in sink with Noel's crops, not intentional its just what I saw in the image.

Sherpherd's Psalm

A well thought out image and the contrasting light and dark is what I particularly like about this image so wanted to keep that aspect of the image intact. PP in On1 Photo Raw 2019.

Well, the time has come to close this challenge down. I appreciate each who took the time to contribute. I know I sound like a broken record each time I host these challenges, but I do find it difficult to judge these challenges and select the host for the next round. Each contribution has a unique quality.

noelcm - You contributed two entries. For the first image you chose to use a tight crop and deep negative space to focus the subject. The second entry continues that concept, but retains the light source. Between the two, I believe I prefer the second, but both are well executed.

tmlawes - You chose to keep a warm temp to the image giving it a very inviting feel. Nice.

graeme83 - You contributed two entries. The second entry is a black and white with a tight panoramic feel crop. I like the sharpening to it, but really like your first entry the best. I like the tight crop, bringing the focus on the subject, while still maintaining the elements and negative space. Bravo!

Tas - You used the negative space effectively to focus on the subject. Nicely done.

tuggie76 - I like the warm glow your entry presents. You chose to add to the image with the addition of a cross and remembered to add the shadow cast by the cross. Well done.

It is never easy, but I believe I will give the nod for hosting Challenge #296 to graeme83's first image:

Thank you everyone! I look forward to 296!

This was my edit:

Thanks so much. A fantastic image to work with, thoughtfully composed and with great light it needed very little to make it shine.
Thanks for hosting and providing your thoughts and comments.

There has been some very nice images recently so I will have a look and try to pick something worthy.
