I got no shot today because I can't find my Pentax A 50mm f2 lens. It's not where I thought it was, and I've been hunting for it all afternoon. I thought it was in my backpack, but it's not there, and it's not in my small camera bag either. Last time I used it, was as a magnifying glass. If I can't find it tomorrow, I'll have to change and use a M 50mm f2 instead.

(is it heresy to compare the FA43 Ltd to the DA40 Ltd and like the 40 better?)

43 vs 40

I didn’t think my first post of the month with the 43 was all THAT bad ;-)

I have always been of the opinion that you can like whatever you like. To heck what others think. Heresy? Not I’m my book. Each to his own! Never owned the 40 but I have been happy with the 43. That being said, the DA 20-40 Ltd has fast become one of my favorite lens so I have no doubt the 40 would make me happy too.

No. DA40 has modern coatings etc. So it should be better, especially on crop sensor. I ws shooting with DA40 XS on my K-1 and it could have been brilliant(it is really nice on my K-3). Corners are just lacking a tad on FF. Even stopped down. Dunno how it is with DA40 lim.

I've still no photo yet. Had company today, and no time to take a photo.

I never had the 40. I bought the 43 so I could use it on both the K-1 and KP. So far so good.

On another note: my wife has taken a liking to photography and Iv'e been trying to teach her a bit. But she's a Leo and following is not her cup of tea. When I tell her something her mind is often elsewhere. And then she asks about it a minute later. Sometimes it goes downhill from there. Going over the PASM dial last evening she told me she thought the A was for A**hole hmmmm....

I told her she should get a good book on beginning photography and suggested "Stunning Digital Photography" by the Northrups, The e book has links to a lot of their YouTube tutorials. What books do you all recommend?

I recently enjoyed Read This If You Want To Take Great Photographs by Henry Carroll. Interesting, simple and illustrated with some cracking shots to show what he means.

I found my A 50mm f2 and was able to take a photo today. It was hidden by another lens, and on the opposite side of the case from the other two 50s.

And the gorillapod look alike, takes some getting used to but at least the camera doesn't shake when I take a macro.

I strongly believe in making one's own decicions in matters of taste and boldly standing agains common opinion. Majority is usually too mainstream to understand true greatness.

In this case doesn't necessery apply as we are all Pentaxians and therefore not part of the majority

That particular joker is well past preservation - as you will see when I upload today’s photos.

Sick dog. No sleep. Long day at work = no photo for the 4th.

The good news is that Sammy is much improved: out of hospital and getting his mojo back after a sound night's sleep at home

And we fly to London tomorrow, followed by Le Mans and Paris
