Hello everyone,
So I decided to join the group since I need sort of a kick to make me go out and shoot more. I read the faq. Twice. Hopefully, I won't mix things up when posting pictures.
The first week might be tricky because I leave for a holiday and the Internet access can be limited, so I might have a late start. I'll try to go with DA 35 2.4.

Welcome from me too <waves>

Itís an excellent group, and the idea of it is a great discipline. Certainly it has helped me come much more to grips with my camera, and with my various lenses.

I wonder if this challenge will help or worsen my developing LBA...

Well, it did make me buy a bunch of lenses I would not have gotten without it, as I decided to shoot M series primes thru first with APSC body and then with FF. Good thing was that the ones I was missing at that point were the cheap one's. Also I've seen others shoot two lenses in the challenge that I decided I have to have. But now that I have all those and most of FF round still undone, my LBA has gone away.
So based on my experience I'd say; Yes, it will worsen and help your LBA.

It will definitely help your LBA. Assuming, of course, that you consider LBA a positive thing. The challenge does actually help with lens selection since you can see the results that others are getting with some lens you are considering. Even when I decide a lens I am using in the challenge is just a very low quality lens, the challenge helps me redouble my efforts and usually I am able to find the sweet spot of a generally crappy lens. I've had lenses where the focus was always soft, so I got better at finding shots that did not need to be perfectly focused.

I echo the earlier welcomes. This group is very supportive and encouraging.

Well, thing is that when I look at my gear I have the impression of having too many lenses (I have just one digital body but two M-series analogs). But when I try to decide, which one to sell - no candidates. So I think this is the classic symptom. Moreover, I just bought a nice lens in the Marketplace because it was sooo nice (and of course, I need it!). Let's see which direction will it go

IF you were to use each of those lenses for 30 days each, as part of Single In, you'd gain a deep understanding of each lens's strengths and weaknesses after a year had passed. That is what SIC has done for me. I have 3-4 lenses that I know very well, and understand a few of my less often used lenses much better for those times when I take them out for a photo shoot.

bingo

this is one of the biggest reasons I shoot in the SIC since 9/2015, to evaluate lenses and camera bodies - since beginning this, I have bought and sold many lenses based solely on this experience here....

Forty five SI challenges since 2011 has prompted me to buy many lenses too. Trouble is, I've never sold any . I'm almost scared to return .

I have actually sold a few, but replaced them probably at a ratio of 3:1...

This sounds intriguing. I'll give it a try with my D FA Macro 100mm F2.8 WR. Most weeks I shoot daily anyway but with several different lens. I'm still not quite sure where I'm supposed to post though.

Well, 1 day left before restarting SIC in August and I have done something I have never done before. I dropped my camera. The M 50 f1.7 is now damaged. What the heck? I’ll still participate but need to pick another lens.

That happened to my K-5, which has multiple issues now. I also damaged the 2x TC, as well as the camera, but it seems like my 500mm Mirror Lens was not damaged. I've been relying solely on the K-1 since that time, and I go back and forth about replacing the K-5 with an APS-C, or investing in FF and divesting myself of the DA lenses I have.

I'm going to participate this month, for sure! Although there's limited entries from me last month, I'll be sure to immerse myself this month.

Now, which lens to pick...*

*Fortunately I've only 6 lenses to choose from, at present.
