A month with fixed focus prime. That sounds like a real challenge.

I did close to that once; set it to hyperfocal distance and just snapped. Trouble is figuring out when it’s actually set there now. Maybe a tape measure...

Sometimes you don't have a choice I have nine lovely 50ish M42s ..... Make that eight and one little horror that produce great results (even the horror...... Oh, I forgot my helioses, ... Make that eleven all waiting for the day when I finally get my hands on a K1

That’s so cruel! Showing me what I could be shooting with actually, you have both of the cameras I want. I have come very close to throwing my credit card at a silver KP, only the thought of certain death slowed my hand ........ for now

Sounds good, I think I'll revisit the FA-77 on the K-1.

I have been flaky for a couple of months...preparing for travel and not shooting, traveling with lots of shooting but too tired to post, or recovering from travel and too tired to shoot. In a workshop I am participating in I described how beneficial (and fun) the Daily and Single In challenges are so I had better dive back in to maintain credibility.

Not 100% sure yet what I'll shoot. Either the 645Z with the 645 FA 120 F4.0 or the K-3 with a 50mm, probably the A or M 50mm F1.7.

I want to join in this month but not sure if I can pull it off. Anyway, going to try with the DA 35 Limited.

Hello everyone,
So I decided to join the group since I need sort of a kick to make me go out and shoot more. I read the faq. Twice. Hopefully, I won't mix things up when posting pictures.
The first week might be tricky because I leave for a holiday and the Internet access can be limited, so I might have a late start. I'll try to go with DA 35 2.4.

Welcome

It's good to have new people in challenge. Few tips for coming month.

Most of us use Flickr to share the shots as it allows easy commenting on shots. At some point you will struggle on ideas as you will feel you already shot everything interesting. At that point shoot something mundane, but try to use light and composition to make it look interesting and beautiful.
In case you don't have time for photography, grap camera, aim on first thing you see and press shutter. It is better to provide weak safety shot than skip a day. At least for me a shots I'm ashamed for make me try harder the next day
You can keep on shooting daily on holiday and post them when you have time. For example I was on holiday for the first half of july and been posting two shots a day in latter half. From shorter trips I've posted the shots one's I was back home and had shots edited.

Hi,
Thanks for the encouragement! I do use Flickr so that should be straightforward. But what you said about the actual shooting ideas is indeed sort of a concern to me, so I'll certainly use the tips. If I won't manage to upload pictures during the first week, I'll do as you suggest and post two per day during the second. Looking forward to starting!

Just to clarify. On 16th I posted one shot taken 16th and one taken on 1st. next day 17th and 2nd and so on. As you're only away for a week, you can post them each in their own days threads, which is traditional late poster solution. I break the rule this month as I split it in half and have been posting both on the thread of the latter day, but consider it special solution for a this month.

Welcome aboard, I agree with Iso about posting a safety shot one day making you try harder for a better shot the next day, it is fun and after a year of taking photos every day, I find my photographic eye has improved. No prizes , just self satisfaction, what could be better.

Thanks for the tip. Now I see how the daily threads help in keeping the challenge transparent. Very likely I'll handle the uploading - eventually, during the first few days I'll do very basic in-camera post-processing. If not, I'll upload the pictures back to their daily threads, accordingly.

Thanks to the others for nice welcome words - I hope to stay in for the whole month without missing a day.
