Dear All,
A great turnout for this 306th round of PP Challenge! Again, you’ve all made it tough on the host to decide a champion.
Glenn5995 – Your version, in terms of color and contrast, is a bit like what I produced and also most like my memory of that evening. You have done a much better job with the foreground detail than I did, however. I’m suspecting that you didn’t change the white balance too much if at all.
noelcmn – Your version has a bit of vintage film feel. While I am at odds with your choice to put the horizon in the middle, I like the warmth you gave the scene.
Todd – Rock on with the B&W. I really like contrasty B&W landscapes and I think you have really done a nice job here. I might have preferred the highlights to be just a touch brighter, but your decision to keep them where they are has maintained a large amount of detail.
ismaelg – You got my attention by adding that lightning strike off in the distance! It’s funny how incredibly natural that looks (at least at my screen resolution). Your version, much like noelcmn’s, has a film-like softness and saturation, at the cost of some of the detail. It’s not reality, but it is a version of a
potential reality.
mariwalt – Welcome to both PF and the PP Challenge! You have gone the opposite direction from noelcmn and ismaelg – introducing a coolnessthat brings the foreground a very monochromatic feel (even though it still has a generally warm tone) and the sky a pastel look reminding me of some out-of-date film stocks (not a bad thing).
zooland – Again, very close to what I recall as reality, just slightly warmer. Very nice.
So, in the end, I’m going to go with augmented reality instead of reality this time.
ismaelg, you are the PP #306 champion with your filmic, lightning-added version of this image.
My version of the image is attached.
