All it takes is a bad experience with a product. But cars are funny, many people have strong feeling against or for brands they have never owned. I had a prejudice about a brand and ended up buying one because it was what we needed at the time and what we could afford. After owning it the prejudice was justified. But in reality, there are not any vehicles that you can not have a good or bad experience with. All are pretty reliable, some just give you more bang for the buck, whether that be in maintenance cost, tech, speed, luxury, economy, towing power, size, etc, on and on.
