Gates, entrance or garden, intact or not...

I've always found gates interesting, particularly well-used and old gates. One of the things that adds character to gates is the vegetation around them. I have the idea that the character of a gate is related to the personality of the owner. They range from simple to ornate. Some of the most interesting are those intended as a temporary measure which have become permanent.

I really like the old wooden gate, but I'd have cropped the house out of the image to highlight the gate more. Great texture with the ivy too.

This is the gate to a little church in Bulwer. The entire church is built of yellowwood.

An odd gate to an odd cemetery I happen by a couple years ago. This is along a country road, the only tombstones are visible through the gate, at least a hundred yards off the road, no trees, just open field.

Perhaps they were planning for a plague that never happened?
