Supermodel?

Came across her while doing some "street photography"... A wee "Superstar". Rose Tinted and colour coordinated outfit, shades, phone... all posed bootiful like. 😉

A couple from a shoot with a friend with my old strobes. Shot with three old manual 250ws cheap newer strobes and Fuji xt1 some promo shots for a single release he did . It is handy to have someone who has modelled before when you are starting because they will have good ideas and can interpret poor direction most of us give when we are learning.

Never knew about this thread! It's true that portraits can sometimes be more difficult than landscapes or still life which is what I used to do before. Lots of variables to get a handle on when dealing with others which is one of the main reasons why I try to keep the number of people at the shoot to a minimum. I used to let hair stylists, makeup artists, friends, other photographers, aspiring assistants, etc show up thinking that they would add value to the shoot when in fact it was just more people to manage which is a skill unto itself. Some of my very best shoots have just been me, one camera, one lens, a few outfits, and one model who has taken care of her own hair/makeup. Less distractions and more time to build rapport. In general I do recommend use of a flash/strobe for portraiture but when mentoring others I usually advise others to first understand and appreciate natural light unless you just prefer the unnatural look of OCF before investing in a flash.

A few examples of my most popular images excluding explored portraits.

Great professional shots, worthy of entry into any magazine or portfolio. Besides the light being excellent your knack of posing the models is a great achievement and worthy of all praise - congratulations, a very well presented set.

"Lyn" - a portrait from the 1970s, originally taken on slide film, and recently scanned - probably taken using Pentax MX or SPII

A sweet gal.
from a recent shoot, two weekends ago.

MZ-S with Tokina ATX 828 80-200mm f2.8 (could also be the FA77, cuz for that shoot, was switching between the Tokina and the FA77).
