Okay its 2230ish here in the UK. I'm in for the month having been away from the SIC since April - and looking forward to getting back into the fun.

I'll play this month with the FA77; found a nice one in October 2018 and still not had an extended period of time with it.

Nice to "see" everyone again.

One of you probably know the answer, so I ask here and don't bother creating a thread. How these M42 lenses with pin that close the aperture work with current cameras other than wide open? I tried to read the guide, but missed the information. There's no swich on the lens to close the aperture.

Found the answer; They don't

Also found the information on how to lock the pin down in reversible way: Flickr: Discussing Converting Fujinon lenses to manual aperture in M42 Fujinon lenses

I got my Fujinon in working condition now. I see similar screws on Petri so it probably opens the same way and I should be able to fix it also. So all good

I got two M42 lenses with pin. Two solutions : either you open the back of the lens to fix the pin in inside position (tutorials for Helios 44M) or the "kippon" ring with inside flange (my favourite option), it works fine. When closing the aperture ring, brightness decreases in the viewfinder as well ...

With Fujinon the easiest method is push in the pin until something gives and it doesn't come out again.

I opened Petri, but it seems more difficult to lock open. If you locked the pin down in similar methid as with Fujinon, it doesn't get back together. I'm done being nice and respective and will do something permanent to lock it. It's not like there is much value to loose on 19,50€ lens

EDIT: Based on test shots taken wide open Petri looks like a nice lens. Easily worth a month in SIC.

I like the second shot, very nice colour tones. Look forward to seeing what you can do with it. I've tended to super glue the pin down in the past.

I’m kind of happy to read this. It makes me feel less bonkers for contemplating supergluing my Soligor into my M42 adapter.
