Feb 12 -- Another dreary and damp day here so it's an inside photo, a bag of flowers

I used my better b&w in the single in, doh! I like this one too. I prefer the image but the contrast isn't quite as good. KP &18-135

I think the contrast is perfect. I'm not a fan of the super-contrasty look.

I'm enjoying the look of your B&W pictures by the way, I like some contrast(*) but I also like a natural look that preserves the midtones and you seem to look for that as well. I see you use Lightroom, do you just use that or do you process with plugins?

(*) My reference for black and white photography is Clyde Butcher...

Thanks a lot I love b&w
I always add contrast, texture and clarity but my starting point are the black and white profiles. Sometimes I fiddle with tone curves but I need more practice. I am using light room cc on my tablet so don't have the control I would like. Clyde butcher is new to me but he is exactly where I want to be with the look and style as for continuing, I love B&W and may make it my thing lolol to that end, next month is exclusively black and white for me the plan is to get use to seeing in mono. I know it won't get the likes in my photographic society but I never shot for likes and my arbiter is me although, I can be a right *@#₹&%*! Lol

I have some catching up to do for February, then... Not that I have b&w shots from every single day.

1st

5th

7th

10th (admittedly not b&w, but at least monochrome)

11th

12th

13th

This wasn't shot as a b&w but it made a fairly good one. It was a late blue hour shot so I used a red filter to darken the sea and sky and make the boats pop a little more

I haven’t had time to do daily, but at least once a week, not shot specifically for B&W, but I like it better this way. Adobe B&W Profile 02 in mobile LR, having to work on iPad this week instead of LR
