Roasting some coffee again..... whilst playing with SMC K85/1.8.... after much contemplating I decided Hitachi had to be the in focus eye for this shot (f2 or whatever one click closed is). New rule for me... if it doesn't have an eye.... but has some writing somewhere near a key area then get writing in focus.

and .... with recently installed S focus screen and tampa 1.22x viewfinder I'm nailing focus almost 100% of the time at f2 and below on the 50 and 85... a game changer for me (using focus peaking and rear screen took away the intimacy and enjoyment for me.... it's back now without having to go mirrorless)
Now you mention coffee (I also roast my coffee), this is a picture of the last cup of espresso made by our beloved 15y.o. Silvia - her OPV died right after. Now I'm on the hunt for a new espresso machine, could be a new Siliva or, preferably, a dual boiler/HX machine .
I wanted to do some focus stacking, but the coffee disappeared before I could manage to refocus

My silly shot of a cable coming out of the back of the computer that I took for this thread was explored. That's very puzzling, almost disturbing.

Here's another, see if you can guess what it is part of:
Cast iron trivet?

Interesting. Been racking my brain on this one.

My guess is a Hallmark/wax press?

No, but close in some ways, it's called a "cut" in old fashioned printing, more often called a die today. Several years ago as a hobby I owned a Kelsey platen press, and hand set and fed printing press. You set the type and everything by hand, if you needed a graphic, you would have your drawing or photo and send it off to be made. They would make it from metal and mount it to a wooden block, the same height as type. This particular one was for a friend's "business card". I didn't realize I still had it since I sold the press years ago. You could make beautiful printing on the press, but it was very labor intensive. I actually sold some specially printed products but was getting so much business it was no longer fun.

I spotted this fella dangling from a tree. Unfortunately I don't know what name he goes by. It was hard to get him in focus, since he was swinging around in the breeze. I think it worked out reasonably well.

There was a bird here at one time, I'm sure of it. Pretty sure I saw it fly away the second before I took the picture.
