The real question: is the plural of house "hice," or for that matter, is the plural of grouse "grice"

Ah! The inconsistencies of the English Language! Hice sounds much better, shorter and save a lot of time. It is sounds better than "houses". I vote for Hice!

I spy someone with a backpack

Walt,in the UK "hice" is the way the aristocracy pronounce the place where they live! But then they do often have more than one!

I think that the British aristocracy has a long tradition of using distinctive pronunciations, distinctive words, distinctive phrases, distinctive "tonality" in their speech, affectations that distinguish them from what the American snob Leona Helmsley famously called "the little people."

A turn of phrase I heard from Alistair Cook, quoting someone else, that is penetratingly accurate; "The easy arrogance of wealth."
