I see green fields (not a Pentax shot, is that OK in this game?):

Certainly! Not that just anything is OK, but long ago it was settled that any camera/lens is acceptable unless the thread is designated as Pentax-only.

I spy a curious man-made structure. This pile of cobbles is hollow in the middle, built for roosting of a huge number of micro-bats.

I spy rocks used to enhance a man made structure

the Serena Ngorongoro Lodge used river rock for the exterior of lodge

QuoteQuote:
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees.

we have stayed there twice 2016 and 2019

hint, if you stay 3 nights, you get a free cake at your last supper and the staff serenades you at your table

unless you have a group you probably will end up sharing the cake with other diners, we did

lots of stairs and since you are at the crater rim, it is 2,326m/7,633 feet above sea level

hard for those who live at 274.32m/900 feet

Great hint!

We have visited Tanzania twice, but I was on a teaching assignment, we brought three kids along, and we had a somewhat tight budget - but this is definitely on my wish list now.

we learned that you were not supposed to leave your lodge until 6 am local

but unless stopped on the road, they didn't ask how you got to the gate exactly at 6 AM

we had a very experienced long time guide everyone seemed to know and we left it to him

we were either the first or second vehicle into the Crater

on each trip, we spent 3 nights at the lodge and 2 full days in the crater

just the wife myself and the guide

( ignoring the emphasis on " last " )

well they have a buffet only so you are kinda stuck on what you get

otherwise, bacon, ribs and spam might be nice
