I'm pretty much out. Things have been going crazy around here. I will try to drop back in later this month.

I'd forgotten just how brutally exposing Pixelshift is . It's late I'm tired, I'm running a big bubble bath and I'm gonna catch up on comments. Oh and my shot from the 11th is a scavenging save after I stupidly formatted the wrong set of cards. The idea was to show off my latest arrival and show the reflection of my lit keyboard in the front element.

I always have a neck strap on the camera. I loop it around my wrist in a basic scenario, but crossbody if I'm just walking around. I got one of the slings and it's excellent, but bulky. If I'm going on an outing, to the zoo or hike, I'll use it.

I DO HAVE SHOTS for all days, I'm just miserably behind in processing. I will catch up! I have a little quarantine depression. It's becoming a constant battle.

Constant battle is right, the other day I spent hours welding stick figures in the garage.....because...

Behind these last few days here... catching up now... just got a new laptop, and every spare minute I've been setting it up to be perfect. As in, leaving that horrid Windows stuff behind, installing Arch and a fairly minimal desktop (i3).

Thing is bloody fast, it's amazing I could even edit photos before on my old one. New one's a Thinkpad e495, it's got a quad-core AMD Ryzen processor with decent enough graphics, 16 GB RAM, dual SSDs (one for OS, one for storage). People complain about the screens on these, with not-so-great colour accuracy, but the FHD IPS panel coming from a cheap 1366x768 TN is just gorgeous!

Being a cheap DIY man, I just had to do this sling thing by myself... Commercial setups just felt too expencive
I did the DIY way for my A 400 strap. Total cost: $0

The iOS app is pretty useless. I used to use one called FlickStackr years ago which generated the BBcode and was all-round much better - I think they somehow upset Apple though. I had a look today I case I needed an emergency posting from the phone - on the Appstore is a free app called BBCode4Flickr - does what it says on the tin. To test it out I posted my shot for the 8th. You just give the app access to Flickr. select your image and touch "copy". Paste as normal into your post.

+1 to the Flickr app’s lack of utility and the goodness of Flickstackr. I have the “PhotoExplorer” app from the same developer, which is still good on the iPad, but annoying on an X iPhone, as it hasn’t been updated since the dev had their trouble with Apple.

I will try out the BBcode app. That’s fantastic to know - cheers 8)

Tremendous fright time last night.
Took my photos before bed, popped camera down on the side-table in the hallway. I'd recently put a strap on the camera. My reasons for disclosing this will become evident soon...
Pottered around sorting out stuff for work today, saw the dogs up to bed, turned the lights off downstairs and made sure the front door was locked. Grabbed the camera, took a step towards the 'wooden hill', instant-and-unforeseen resistance and 'POP' out of my hand goes the camera before it made a speedy descent to the floor. The floor is laminate so has very minor give but is otherwise pretty hard. BANG. The strap had caught on one of the handles of the drawer of the side-table.
Other half: "What was that?!"
Me: "[Insert choice of expletives here], the [another expletive] camera!"
OH: "Oh goodness!"
Hastened to pick up camera, turned lights on, investigated camera. Camera looks okay. Lens looks okay... oh wait, there's a bit of a dent on the front rim and the lens cap...
*Turns focus ring*, well it feels okay...
*Turns aperture ring*, well it stops down okay...
No discernible scratches, scuffs, cracks to the glass.
*Turns camera on*, well it turns on. No odd whirring.
*Tries each and every button consecutively, multiple times*, well everything is working alright.
*Takes picture*, well, it takes photos.
*Changes lens for the only AF one I currently own*, well it autofocuses and takes pictures, no obvious difference...

This is what I would call my one lucky escape. This could have gone horribly wrong. I've not had a strap on any camera I've owned until Sunday for ease of taking pictures while walking the dogs. It is coming straight off it. I might get a Peak Design one so I can clip/unclip simply
Very glad this didn't end up a worse tale.

For what it's worth, my other half was concerned that I had broken one of her new plant pots.

Arrrrrrrrgh!!! How horrible. I’m so glad it’s all ok. Straps and handles can go seriously wrong.

(When I dropped my K-30 on the road it rooted the exposure metering , and possibly the video recording - as it was after that that I noticed it was stuffed)

Well I've caught up to about half way through today If I'm to mark myself (1/3 of the way through), I'm going to give myself a meh mark, clip around the ear, you are a disappointment son! type lecture. Subject wise I've been boring, the strawberries were saved by the lens itself, I crippled the lens on the flower shots by trying it out with the TC and they will be deleted at the end of the month. Aqua the tap was OK, probably helped by the PP. Riveted (the joystick trigger is fine, bread and butter to the 25, as was Lens (gear porn shot of the DFA*70-200). Complete disasters / embarrassments were the Perspective (50 Macro + DFA50) and Iconic (keyboard reflection on front element of SuperTak 50), both are woeful. Softly softly (dandelion pic in muted colours) and Dormant show an improvement, both coming in at above average I think if handled a bit boringly. You'll all be happy to know that I've packed away the SuperTak, not to be seen again for the month but I liked and still like the concept of Symbiotic from earlier today and it served its purpose perfectly lined up against the DFA* prompting a funny & enjoyable exchange with Eric. That leaves Switches, the keyboard image, which I think Sara is particularly bored off . I'm going to defend that one, OK its a keyboard, boring but it's a cracker of a test for any lens. And the way I took it, handheld, 1/30s, ISO3200, f/2.8 resulted in a not too shabby return. So I'm scoring myself out of 130 = 4+6+5+6+2+4+1+6+6+7+1+4+5 for a total of 58 so lots of room for improvement. Fair summary?

Wait... we're getting scored?

I really do need to catch up with commenting and looking through some shots. I'm days behind there. Things just seem all too busy right now...

I was hoping there not be any more math - I was over in the 'Composition vs Gear' thread and that was enough for me....
